Pick a game mode, deal the cards, play Uno. This shortcut packs the whole card game into Shortcuts, with a full deck, six game modes and room for two to six players, no game app required.
What it actually does
The author calls it the first working Uno game made entirely from Siri Shortcuts, and the scale backs that up. It runs to more than 2,400 actions, and version 1.0 alone took almost two weeks to build.
What’s in it:
- A full Uno deck.
- Six game modes, including two that let you stack Draw 2 and Draw 4 cards.
- Two to six players.
- A draw pile that reshuffles itself automatically when it runs out.
- An option to keep playing until everyone except the last player has emptied their hand.
- The official Uno instructions, for settling rules arguments.
That stacking option is worth pointing out. Plenty of people play with stacking as a house rule even though it isn’t in the official rules, and here you can choose either way.
It’s an unofficial fan project, inspired by the classic card game and not affiliated with Mattel or the Uno brand. If you remember a shortcut called Uno (Beta), this is its stable successor; the author re-released it after moving to a new account.
Installing it
Check that your iPhone runs iOS 18 or later. The game uses Shortcuts actions that older versions don’t have.
Putting it to work
Launch the shortcut, choose a game mode and set the number of players. Play runs through Shortcuts menus, so each turn is a matter of picking the card you want to play or drawing.
If you’re new to the game or want to check a rule mid-match, open the built-in instructions. Choosing the mode that continues until only one player is left turns a quick round into a full ranking of who finished first, second and third.
With 2,400-plus actions, a shortcut this size can take a second to load on older phones. Give it a moment before tapping again.
Common questions
Why won’t it run on iOS 17?
It relies on several actions Apple only added to Shortcuts in iOS 18. On earlier versions those steps simply don’t exist.
What changed in version 3.3?
The updater got reworked so beta updates can be offered, alongside other bug fixes and improvements.
I found a bug. Does the author want to hear about it?
Very much. The author asks players to report every bug in the feedback section on the shortcut’s listing.
