You’re scrolling a Weverse moment and you want to keep the clip your favorite artist just posted. Weverse doesn’t hand you a save button, so this shortcut adds one. Tap share, pick Weverse Download, and the photo or video lands on your iPhone in full quality.

What this shortcut does

It pulls the original media file out of a Weverse post and saves it straight to your device. The grab works across media posts, live broadcasts, feed updates, and moments, so you’re not limited to one corner of the app. If you hand it a YouTube link instead, it hands you off to the separate YouTube Download shortcut rather than choking on a format it wasn’t built for.

Where it pulls from

Installing it

  1. Install the free Scriptable and a-Shell mini apps from the App Store. Both do the behind-the-scenes work, and the shortcut won’t run without them.
  2. Tap Add Shortcut on this page, then confirm at the bottom of the preview.
  3. The first time you run it, you’ll sign into your Weverse account so the shortcut can reach the posts you can see.

Putting it to work

The everyday path is the Share Sheet. Open a post in the Weverse app, tap the arrow button in the top-right corner, and choose Weverse Download from the list. You can also copy a link and run the shortcut straight from the Shortcuts app, which is handy when you’ve already got the URL on your clipboard. Browsing Weverse on the web instead? Use the browser’s own share button rather than the in-app arrow, since that arrow isn’t there.

Where your downloads land

Saved files go to either Photos or Files, depending on how you’ve set the Save to Files/Photos option. Want a different album or folder? Toggle that option off and back on, and the shortcut will ask where to put things on the next run.

When something goes wrong

The download stalls or a-Shell mini seems frozen. Make sure you’re on version 1.7.2 or later, which fixed a freezing bug in the a-Shell mini hand-off. Re-running the shortcut usually clears it.

It can’t reach a post. The shortcut only sees what your account sees, so check that you’re logged into the right Weverse account. You can switch accounts from the user settings.

A post with a non-English password fails. Older versions tripped on non-ASCII passwords; the current release handles them, so update if you’re behind.

FAQ

Why do I need two extra apps just to save a video?

Scriptable and a-Shell mini handle the parts Shortcuts can’t do on its own, like running the script logic that finds the real media URL. Both are free, and you only install them once.

How do I check which account I’m signed into?

Run Weverse Download directly from the Shortcuts app instead of the Share Sheet. That opens the user settings, where you can see the logged-in account or switch to a different one.

Does this work on a Mac?

It’s an iPhone and iPad shortcut. The author lists macOS as unsupported, and it needs iOS 15 or later to run at all.
